Cycle 4 Students in P1st-2nd had the opportunity to use their personal space and locomotor skills in a variety of activities. One such game was Building Bridges. Half of the class is a bridge, while the other half is a traveler. Travelers move around the gym using different locomotor skills and go around, under, or over the bridges depending on how the teacher asks them to move. 3-5 grades began working on the skill of ball rolling. Students reviewed the 5 cues (Ready, Swing, Step, Bend, Roll), and then took part in some activities to expand on that skill. One game was called Fitness Bowling. In groups of 3-4, students try to roll a foam bowling ball at a pin. If they knock down the pin, their team gets to add one more. This continues if they knock down all of the pins standing. The goal is to reach 10 pins and knock all 10 down. Cycle 3 This cycle, P1st-2nd worked on their locomotor skills: walk, power walk, jog, run, gallop, skip.
